Looking at women
empowerment in the backdrop of rising crime against them, Haryana Cheif Minister
Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda recently said
that about 3.5 lakh affordable houses
would be registered in name of women of beneficiary families.
To provide house to
poor in urban & rural areas, Haryana has launched Priyadarshani AwaasYojna
to build 2 lakh houses for rural poor and 1.5 lakh units under Affordable Urban
Housing policy 2013 in urban areas.
"A woman will
seldom sell off her house. It will ensure that the subsidised houses are not
sold off by men," Haryana CM Mr.
Bhupinder Singh Hooda said while announcing that the state government
will registered the house in name of the women from the poor families.
"Every individual should own a house," the minister said.
Under the
Priyadarshini AwaasYojna, a scheme sponsored by Haryana government, each of the
beneficiaries will be allocated Rs. 81,000 as grant for construction of a new
house. An assistance of Rs. 9,100 will also be provided under the Nirmal Bharat
Abhiyaan. The state government has made budgetary allocation of Rs. 350 crore
under the scheme and HUDCO will finance the Rs. 1350 crore scheme.
For the urban poor
1.5 lakh houses are to be built by 2014-15 through Housing board Haryana, Urban
Local Bodies and Town and Country Planning. A public private partnership (PPP)
model has been proposed to provide liberal concessions to private players in
CLU, EDC, licence fee and FAR.
Financial
Institutions have been mobilized to provide loans under ISHUP scheme & interest subsidy of 5 % will be available
upto loan of Rs. 1 lakh. The beneficiaries will be provided a unit of 300
square feet at highly subsidized rates.
With rise in graph of
crime against women, especially from scheduled castes, the state government
lately has been facing a lot of flake. About 19.335% of the population belong
to scheduled caste in the state. A majority of beneficiaries under the housing
scheme will fall in the category.
