Real Estate Vertical Development: Changeover India's Elevator Scenario..!

Modern elevators for high - rise structures have been leveraging IT based solutions for better quality of vertical transportation. Mr. Ami Pandya (TOI) has the details

Higher Number of Floors..!

Higher the number of floors a building has, more dependent residents are on the elevator. And with India's leading metros, Mumbai & Delhi, having development plans that include buildings that might go up all the way to a 100 - plus floors, there is need to make elevators faster, make the ride smoother, more safe and secure and in this quest, the simplest solution is to leverage IT-based options to make the elevator more secure and user-friendly.

The old systems used in Indian elevators entailed control by an electro-mechanical system, explains Mr. Sohan Thakur, Director, Saptashree Group. The single aspect that sets the new elevators apart is that these older elevators were slow, he explains.

The most important aspect about the new ones is the safety features which are in-built : most of the new elevators being installed in high - rise structures across Mumbai & the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) are automated there is no liftman.

Given that senior citizens as also children end up having to use the elevators all by themselves, the safety aspect becomes even more critical, he adds.

This is where IT is the game changer.

Safe, Reliable and Efficient Elevators..!

The changeover in India's elevator scenario came from application of IT in elevators, which lead to positive changes, bringing in fully electronic &  microprocessor based elevator control systems, explains Mr. Sohan Thakur. What was seen as cutting-edge technology some years ago is now a basic for all safe, reliable and efficient elevators, set-up in high-rise structures, he further said.

Mr. Jitendra Mehta, Hon. Secretary, MCHI CREDAI, Thane, gives the example of grouping a number of high-speed elevators in a building more efficiently, which also ensures optimum dispatching of elevators to various calls from different floors.
Security access can also be worked into the elevators systems,so that only nominated individuals can take elevators to designated floors, he adds.

Elevator safety expert Mr. Rajnikant Lad explains that initially, elevator companies opted to first establish connectivity & secondly, bring in uniformity when it came to materials &  hardware. IT helped Indian elevator companies improve their key processes - this had a positive impact on customer service.

Safety High Rise Elevators ..!

After these two ,the next stage was elevator companies leveraging IT to streamline and make their business processes more efficient & effective. At present, the leading elevator companies are in the process of upgrading their connectivity & hardware, so that effectively, they can enable employees to leverage fully the integrated systems at the work-place.

Safe, more secure & speedy are not the only aspects: the high rise elevators also offer design which fits in with the new wave architecture & interiors, says Mr. Jitendra Mehta.

These high-speed elevators spell luxury combined with the very best in technology to give users an extraordinary experience while using the elevator.

These elevators incorporate the latest technology with sophisticated controls & intelligent modular system designs, which definitely surpass existing industry standards. Effectively, end users can enjoy enhanced touch screen technology as also aesthetic designs with a wide array of different paint shades, skins & matching ceiling designs, which provide an exceptional experience in elevation, explains Mehta.

These new elevators offer a wide range of capacities, most important, these are safe & secure, he concludes.
