Quota for Low Income Groups : CREDAI Opposed

The CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India) had expressed strong opposition to the central government’s proposal for compulsory reservation of  35%of the dwelling units in a development for the EWS (economically weaker section).

The CREDAI has sent a note to Union Minister for Housing & Poverty Alleviation Mr. Ajay Maken saying that without any incentives to the developer / builder community, the scheme would burden open market buyers, who would be forced to cross subsidise the scheme.

Mr. Lalit Kumar Jain, President, CREDAI said, ''Reservation would not be possible in every project across the board."
