According to
Assocham's study, Remittances from NRIs (non-resident Indians) in the current
fiscal (2012-13) are likely to exceed US $ 75 billion, up from US $ 66 billion
in the 2011-12.
NRIs remittances
jumped 19% US $ 66 billion in the last fiscal (2011-12) compared to the
previous financial year, owing to a sharp decline in the rupee value against
dollar.
Even though the rupee
may not see as much depreciation as it did in the last 12 months, the
remittances will remain robust and may well cross US $ 75 billion in 2012-13,
it said.
