Green 201 project at
Pudupakkam, Chennai right behind the Siruseri IT park has created a new record
in building construction.
The Raft Concrete
(RCC) pour, a total of 1,698 cubic meters went as a single pour, non-stop for
46 hours.
This is an astounding
achievement as it is not only the largest quantity of concrete poured as a
single pour, it is also the first of its kind for a residential project in
Chennai.
To start with, every
type of construction needs some base foundation to hold the building firmly on
the ground. The type of foundation largely depends on the type of soil the
building is coming up on.
And quite obviously,
the structural engineering practices vary with each individual case.
In a concrete
foundation, a mould is set on the ground, and concrete is filled into it,
leaving no space between the ground and the building. So on July 23, 2012, at
precisely 19:00 hrs, what started as a routine construction site activity,
ended as a mega achievement at 17:00 hrs on July 25, 2012.
