Calling for burning
the antiquated laws of the British Raj that govern urban development, housing industry,
developers' apex body CREDAI ( ) strongly advocated a pragmatic & practical
approach by all government departments, particularly the environmental
ministry, to solve the chronic housing shortage plaguing in India.
Environmental
Approvals..!.
Mr. Lalit Kumar Jain,
National President, CREDAI said, "Environment clearance has become a holy
cow leading to avoidable delays up to two (2) years. An efficient mechanism
with comprehensive check list to ensure full compliance can be worked out. Sometimes,
CREDAI feel that stopping projects in the name of environment is akin to green
terror."
Mr. Lalit Kumar Jain
also said,'' We, developers, promoters and builders fail to understand the
intervention of environment department in projects which are being implemented
as per prior approved master plans of cities which anyways take environmental
approvals. We should look for practical solutions rather than being
stubborn."
