National Housing Bank : Cuts Prime Lending Rate by 0. 50%


Mr. R.V. Verma, Chairman & Managing Director, NHB (National Housing Bank) said, ''NHB has slashed its PLR (prime lending rate) by 0.50% from 10.5 %  to 10 % . 'This move will spur demand for home loans as it would make retail housing loans more affordable (low cost).  It will directly benefit all floating rate loans linked to PLR"

NHB refinances HFCs (housing finance companies) on their retail housing loans.

Meanwhile, NHB has reported a net profit of Rs. 387 crore for the financial year ended June 2012 (2011 may to 2012 June).

This represents a 39% increase over the net profit of Rs. 279 crore recorded in the previous financial year.( 2010-11)

For the year under review, NHB had disbursed loans to the tune of Rs. 14,464 crore, which is a 22% increase over Rs. 12,035 crore in the previous year.
