An international
consortium, led by Turner Project Management, the project management consultant
for Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world, are to build the tallest
statue in the world in India.
Statue of Unity of
Sardar Patel..!
The consortium signed
an agreement with the Gujarat government for "engineering, design and
contract management" to construct the 182 metre high Statue of Unity of
Sardar Patel.
Other partners in the
consortium, apart from Turner, include the US based Michael Graves and
Associates & Mindheart from Germany.
The Statue of Unity
will cost Rs. 2,500 Crore (Dh 160 Crore) and it will be built under the
supervision of the consortium, which will charge Rs. 56 Crore for the job.
The statue will be 54
metres higher than the Spring Temple Buddha statue in China, the current record
holder.
During the first year
and 3 months, the consortium will prepare master plan of the project &
finalise contract bid documents.
In the next about 40
months, it will supervise the construction activity, and in the past 2 months,
it will hand over the statue. In all, it will take 56 months to complete the
Statue of Unity.
