Infosys
has received, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) India
Platinum rating by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) for its office at its
Pocharam campus in Hyderabad. This is the 4th Infosys building that has been
rated a Platinum rating, taking the total platinum certified building area at
the company to above 10 lakh square feet. LEED rating is given to buildings
that are designed conforming to a green code developed by IGBC.
Radiant
Cooling Technology..!
Mr.
Ramadas Kamath, Senior Vice President and head of infrastructure of Infosys
said, ''The block that won the rating uses radiant cooling technology - a first
in a commercial building in the country, ensuring high standards for energy
efficiency. Infosys set a target to become a carbon neutral firm by 2018, The
building design would reduce water consumption by 48%. All of waste water from
the campus would be treated on site."
The
design allows over 90% of office space to get natural light, reducing the need
for artificial lighting during daytime. Carbon dioxide levels in the building
are monitored continuously to ensure good air quality for occupants.
