Affordable Housing In India by Jones Lang LaSalle India

By Mr. Ashutosh Limaye
The latest research publication – Affordable  (low cost) Housing in India explores major issues in the development of affordable housing in India and steps taken by the Government&  Private Sector to address them efficiently and inclusively.

Highlights:
·         Currently, India falls short by 2.65 core housing units.
Mr. Ashutosh Limaye
·         Indian developers are primarily targeting luxury, high-end and upper-mid housing segment, with value housing being used only as a ‘saviour’ in the low phases of real estate cycles.
·         Developers/promoters who ventured into affordable housing as an experiment, to explore the depth of demand, now have long-term business plans in this segment
·         The present models on which affordable housing is being created concentrate on the ability of people to buy. This model does not guarantee that the beneficiaries of such projects are the actual needy people/speculative investors
