Property registration in Delhi will go online, next month (July 2012) onwards. To start with, registration of property at the Mehrauli sub registrar office will go online for which trial runs are under way.
After Mehrauli, the process will go online at Rohini and then the rest of the city will follow. Property owners can pay the registration fee online and fix an appointment with the sub-registrar to complete paper work..
Mr. Vijay Dev, Divisional commissioner, Delhi government Said, "Currently the process takes many days. But online procedure will make it possible for people to register property within a single day"
There are 13 sub-registrar offices in the Delhi city, where huge rush is common sight. The present system allows registration of only 1,200 to 1500 properties in a day & lack of infrastructure at the sub-registrar offices encourages corruption.
Many a time, people are not even aware of the documents that they need to bring. Touts take advantage of this. The online system will rid us of these maladies.
The Delhi government has prepared a manual, which has all the necessary information & divided the property in various categories such as DDA flats, builder flats, group housing societies, etc.
