Bajaj Finserv Lending, the financing arm of Bajaj
group, will offer housing loans to salaried individuals beginning October,
2012. Now, the firm gives loans to only self employed individuals only.

Finserv Lending said, “We plan to start offering housing loans to salaried
individuals by end of this calendar year (2012). We are working out details as
to how best can we position our product against competition. Initially, we
started only with housing loans to self employed as we thought that there was
much more scope for growth in that section of population."

At present, nearly
75 to 80% of housing loan portfolio is catering to salaried individuals.
The margins for lending companies for housing loans to salaried is lesser
compared with loans to self-employed.
HFC's (Housing finance companies) charge higher
interest on loans to self employed individuals.
