You may soon be able to open & close the door of your house, switch on the AC, and detect fire through your smartphone.

The maker of water purifiers & vacuum cleaners Eureka Forbes plans to introduce such a house automation device in India.

Eureka Forbes, a part of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, is currently testing nearly  15 units of its latest house automation device in Bangalore.

Mr.Marzin Shroff, CEO (Direct Sales) and Senior VP (Marketing), Eureka Forbes said, ''Our firm is readying itself for a pan India launch of the device in a couple of months from now. The launch of the device would strengthen our security solutions business, which is growing at 20 to 30 % annually”

The device would work on ‘cloud' through a centrally controlled server, to be set up in Vashi near Mumbai. The device would route all the signals to your phone, which will act as a remote to control your door, TV, A/C etc. It will be available for about Rs. 1 lakh.

The Eureka Forbes is currently providing security solutions such as CCTVs and other surveillance gadgets. Though this segment contributes just about Rs. 27 crore to the total turnover of Rs. 1,560 crore, it is witnessing the highest growth rate at 45%.

Mr Marzin Shroff also said, “People are travelling a lot and thus need a technology solution through which they can ensure the security of their family. Also there is a huge scope to tap the growing smart phone market. The device is safe and secure and operates with a unique customer code and password"
