Mr. E. Balaji, MD & CEO, Ma Foi Randstad said, “In a high inflation economy companies will have to give a salary raise, but the quantum is subjective. The fear of losing employees to competition is ruled out in a dull market and employees may be willing to work at existing salaries. But once things improve, companies will have to set the pace again".
Recruitment companies are also asking candidates not to demand a 40-50% raises when changing jobs.
They are advising candidates to ask for only 15-30% when they shift jobs.
Countries where employees expect big raises are China, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico while their European counterparts have muted expectations. Only a third of European firms surveyed expect any pay hikes.
