Few fresh graduates of IIT Madras have been offered an annual salary about Rs. 76 lakh to work in the US.
Normally the annual salary package offered by many companies to the students ranged between Rs. 5 lakh and Rs 15 lakh in the campus recruitment.
For the first time top MNC's (Multi National Companies) like Hondo, Sony Corporation, NTT Communications; US-based Pocket Gems, Infoaxe, EPIC and other global companies such as WS Atkins, Hyundai Motors, PayPal, UoP Honeywell and Commvalut participated in the campus recruitment. Public sector companies like Indian Navy and Power Grid, NTPC, HAL, ISRO also visited the campus to recruit students. Major engineering companies like Hyundai, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hero Moto Corp, Coromandel Fertilizers & Murugappa Group too visited the campus this year (2012).
The campus recruitment for the 2012 batch passing out students began on December 1, with about 1,200 students having registered for placement.
Nearly 330 firms have consented to come for placement out of which 210 companies have completed their selection process. As on December 23, 2011 about 770 students, including students of BTech, MTech, M.B.A and M.Sc, were placed. Last year, nearly 170 companies recruited 630 students.
