Delhi Municipal Corporation: Simplify Property Sub -Division Laws

Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD,) to solve the problem of sub division of plot of lands in villages and special areas of the Capital,  decided to remove some clauses mentioned in the rulebook. One clause that has been removed demands houses to have 4.5-metre wide roads in front of them.

Mr. Yogender Chandolia, Chairperson, MCD Standing Committee said,'' In around the Delhi as many villages have narrow lanes, people are unable to get their properties registered. The properties should be registered in their present form as it is not possible for owners to match the requirements as mentioned in the regulation"

The move comes after a notice was issued on recently (7-11-2011), saying that the MCD would seal those houses which have not been registered as per the Building Regulations for special areas, unauthorised regularised colonies and village abadis sub-division, in rural and special areas.

The notice issued by the MCD on 7-11-2011, said with the DDA (Delhi Development Authority) notifying building regulations for special areas, the moratorium which gave protection to such areas no longer existed and sealing would start soon. Urban villages like Shahpur Jat, Hauz Khas village, Munirka, Ber Sarai, Chirag Dilli, Lado Sarai, and special areas like Chandni Chowk, Sadar Paharganj, Karol Bagh, etc may face sealing.
