The DDA (Delhi Development Authority ) will build about 67,000 flats in various parts of the capital in the next couple of years.
At a meeting held in New Delhi, governing body approved the proposal to build the flats under the categories of lower income group, lower category and economically weaker sections.
The flats, which will be constructed in areas like Rohini and Narela, would be ready in the next couple of years and the DDA would use new technologies to build them.
Of the total 67,000 flats, the DDA would build 20,000 for lower income group, 19,000 for economically weaker section and 4,000 for lower category owners.
For the first time, pre-fabricated technique will be used to construct these complexes that would also reduce the normal time taken for construction.
The governing body did not approve the much-debated farmhouse policy that aims at regularising more than 2,000 farmhouses in the city, sources said.
The policy is also believed to be permitting setting up of fitness and wellness centres, amusement parks and banquet halls inside farmhouses.
