Leading manufacturer of plastic furniture company, Nilkamal is entering construction business.
Nilkamal will soon start constructing low-cost houses under government-funded projects. It has bagged three low-cost housing projects and will use monolithic construction for these.Mr. Manish Parekh, Director, Nilkamal said,'' Projects are being funded under Rajiv Gandhi Awas Yojana and Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
A total of 1,200 dwelling units will be built under the three projects.""
Mr. Nayan Parekh, director, Nilkamal, ''We will start construction in two months. Compared to a traditionally-built structure, monolithic construction consumes only one-third time. In one year, 560 units can be built using the technology. The project also involves providing all basic amenities like landscaping, electrification and watersupply"
Using monolithic construction a mould of a structure is made and erected at the construction site. Liquid concrete is then poured through the mould and later the mould is removed.

The Rs 1,500 crore turnover plastic furniture company, which had forayed into mattresses segment last 2010-11 financial year, will soon start production at its new facility in Hosur in Tamilnadu. The company has 9 factories and it had spent Rs 100 crore on capacity expansion in the last two years. With the new facility becoming operational, Nilakamal will have a total production capacity of 1 lakh tonnes per year.
Nilkamal expects to nearly Rs 230 crore revenue from its retail business this 2011-12 financial year and Rs 300 crore next 2012-13 financial year. The company expects 20% growth in its top line this financial year, with gross revenue touching Rs 1,800 crore.
